Description

In this section of the Curious Engineer series, students examine the major scientific discoveries of Greek and Roman societies as well as Middle East, Asia, Mayan and Aztec civilizations. The class allows students to understand how structures we associate with these civilizations were built without modern tools and technologies and the class investigates some of the greatest scientific and engineering discoveries and the people who first introduced them to the world. Students mostly work on individual take-home projects in this class but in some situations, a group project may be assigned (depending on access to space in the facility). Sample projects include a Viking ship model, reconstruction models of the pyramids, astronomy and time-keeping devices. This class has a strong science theme integrated with social and cultural themes.
